Dublin Methodist Hospital, Dublin, Ohio
Dublin Methodist Hospital is a Pebble Project facility designed in a research effort with the Center for Health and Design. The 300,000 sf hospital includes: 94 private patient rooms, a full service emergency department, women’s health services, as well as outpatient and inpatient surgical services.
The lighting design also focused on creating a flow within the building to help identify paths of travel and then create small breaks within that path to allow for a sense of release. The lighting was layered within the space and controlled separately to allow for the natural shift in circadian rhythms. Day-lighting was incorporated into many of the spaces in an attempt to bring views of nature into the healing environment.
